In this week's article:

Meet Suzi Green of Monterey Bay GI Consultants! Learn about Suzi's:

Monterey Bay GI Consultants

📅 Management for tasks and priorities

🔥 Motivation strategy for leading her team

🧠 Advice for leading with both your heart and brain

First, a few metrics:

Time as Practice Administrator at MB GI Consultants: 15 years

Total management experience: 15 years

Currently managing: 95 employees

Suzi's leadership style:

How do you get ready for the day?

When I think of tasks that I need to complete, I add it to my calendar and try to work on those things first thing in the morning. I am constantly interrupted throughout the day, so if I don't use my calendar and set reminders for every little thing, I will forget.

How do you approach problem-solving?

I am really blessed to have an amazing team of managers. When problem solving, we tend to work as a team to resolve things quickly and efficiently.

What's an example of a challenge you're facing right now?

We are having a difficult time keeping and hiring staff.

How do you motivate your team to perform well?

I want them to know I am 100% by their side and support them every step of the way. They all know we work together as a team and I will do anything to help them in any kind of way.

Who are your leadership role models?

I can't really think of any leadership role models, but my mom was a strong, independent woman who raised me to be the same.

What advice would you give someone new to leadership?

I guess my advice would be to understand that not everything is black and white. There are always some grey areas. And I do believe it is important to manage with your heart along with your brain. Watch and learn from people around you or educate yourself and then be the type of leader you think works best for you. We are all different and do not fit in one mold.

What's a particular anecdote that stands out in your career?

I don't think I have a particular story that stands out, but our manager team is so amazing that it was not necessary to lay employees off or close down during Covid. It was amazing to watch everyone come together and watch our practice succeed when others had such a difficult time.
